After high school, Ann moved to Liberty, a small town just outside of Kansas City to attend William Jewell College. While there, Ann studied English and Religion, focusing on literature and biblical studies. Her sophomore year in college, she studied archeology in Arad, Israel, where she participated in a dig of a tel revealing Iron Age II artifacts. Her junior year, she spent a semester in Montpellier, France, studying the French language and volunteering as a member of a Service Learning Program.
In January of 2001, Ann moved to Waco, Texas, accepting a University Ministerial Scholarship to attend Truett Seminary. While there, Ann studied culture and religion by visiting England, Morocco, Turkey, India, Thailand and China. To fulfill a mentoring requirement, Ann studied under Dorisanne Cooper at Lakeshore Baptist Church. She graduated with her Masters of Divinity in August of 2004.
That same month, Ann moved to Austin to volunteer at Mosaic where she preached, led a small group, helped create an experiential labyrinth, and organized volunteer services. To pay the bills, Ann worked as a permanent substitute teacher at Johnston High School.
In 2005 Ann was hired as the Pastoral Resident at First Baptist through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Lily Endowment. In 2007, FBC re-hired her as Minister to Young Adults and of Creative Discipleship. She does intentional pastoral care with 18-39 year olds (Water’s Edge College Group, and the un-creatively named Young Adult Group) while also running a theater (Trinity Street Players) and an experiential worship service (Beresheth).
Ann is the mother of two cats, Zorba and Potter, and a dog, Janie. She spends her free time singing, writing, gardening, and being with friends.
