Interim Youth Minister

Joseph Bumbulis grew up in the small West Texas town of Big Spring. After a call to ministry in high school, Joe attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he graduated from in 2005 with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy with Honors. While at UMHB, Joe helped lead Bible Studies, worked as a Residential Assistant in McLane Hall. In the summers, he worked at a summer youth camp, Walk On Water in Gerty, Oklahoma and one summer at FBC Harlingen with youth and children as an intern along with his wife.
Upon graduation, Joe attended Baylor University’s Truett Seminary on scholarship, where he graduates from in December 2008 with Honors. While at Truett, Joe worked at FBC Georgetown doing College and Young Adult Ministry. In June 2008, Joe began a two year pastoral residency here at FBC Austin. He currently serves as the interim youth minister.
Also while at UMHB in 2003, Joe married Charlotte, a wonderful and talented musician. Charlotte graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2004 with a B.M. in Church Music. Charlotte taught music for 5 years in Killeen ISD and at Reilly and Wooten Elementary in Austin. Currently, she is a consultant for The Texas Baptist Fair Trade initiative, Good News Goods. Even though they do not have children yet, they are the proud parents of one giant baby: a 70 lb. Husky/Shepherd mix, Smokey.
Joe’s interests include good conversations, being outside doing almost anything: reading, theology, emerging culture, working on his car, laughing, watching movies, and traveling.
